"Ice cream for dinner!" -Mom
Yes, this was something that my mother actually said when we were trying to figure out what to get for dinner one night . But it wasn't just the suggestion of any ice cream place, or any flavor- specifically, it was the Frozen Campfire Sundae from Applegate Farms in Montclair, New Jersey.
Applegate's is a cute little ice cream place that attracts masses of all types- children post soccer practice, high-school friends craving summer's favorite food, a girl and her mom nonchalantly waiting patiently on line for their ice cream dinner (aka me). The building itself is a skinny, long bright red barn where lines form at the numerous ordering windows and young ice-cream servers happily take order after order. After bumping into a few familiar faces and getting in line for about ten minutes, my mom and I order two Frozen Campfire Sundaes and the girl gets right to work on our marshmallow, chocloately goodness.
First, a Applegate Farms etched glass cup is filled with a layer of graham central station ice cream, which is out of this world on its own in a homemade waffle cone, but I digress. Mini marshmallows are added, followed by crumbled graham crackers and HOT FUDGE. This process is repeated a second time and then topped with a very generous mass of whipped cream, an extra hot fudge drizzle, and two graham cracker sticks. I'm drooling all over my keyboard after typing that.
10/10 would recommend this treat for any and every reason, especially on a hot summer night when you don't know what to do for dinner.
