"Trendy" Coffee Shop Takeover: Bibble & Sip
As I do every summer, I go out and search for the must-go-to places: bars, restaurants, bakeries... you name it. Then, I take the spots I simply cannot go the summer without visiting and add them to my 'Summer Bucket List.' This morning, I decided to test out a coffee shop I've wanted to try for about three summers. I am a coffee connoisseur, though I try my best to limit myself to only two cups a week (I get even weirder/crazy after a venti coconut milk iced coffee). However, I just neeeeeeded to try Bibble & Sip, a small and cozy typical "trendy" coffee shop located two blocks away from my office #blessed.
So, what's up with this "trendy" concept, you ask? For those not familiar with what good ol' NYC has to offer, a big component is coffee shops with wood bars with stools with small potted plants/flowers for customers to sip at, menus displayed on chalkboards selling things like cold brew coffee and matcha everything. These places also tend to overcharge BIG time, but we all love it anyway (do it for the Insta am I right?). You are definitely saying "ahhhh" with a lightbulb turning on over your head because you totally know what I'm talking about. Now that we're on the same page, I'll continue.
I have literally never realized that this cute little coffee shop was TWO BLOCKS away from my desk. Anyway, I'm just happy I discovered it now. I waited on a short line and studied the multiple chalkboard menus, even though I had obviously studied the menu and yelp reviews previously. I wanted to be somewhat ~adventurous~ and try the lavender latte, and so I did... an iced lavender almond milk latte to be exact. After an intense study of the food case, which gave me endless options of pastries, breads, and mini breakfast sliders, I locked eyes with the cinnamon bun croissant muffin and knew in my heart that I needed that in my life, and in my stomach. So, in total for both the small iced coffee and pastry, my total was $10.56 exactly. A little (okay, a lot) on the pricy side, but it's treat-yourself-Tuesday am I right???
I sat at the wooden counter/bar near the floor-to-ceiling front window (which offered the perfect sunlight for pictures) and decided to be a polite and civil human and cut my cinnamon bun croissant muffin with a knife and fork... though that didn't last long. I smiled, yes SMILED in real life like a weirdo over a cinnamon bun turned croissant turned muffin. Besides the pastries I was lucky enough to eat for a whole semester in Italy, this one is a close second to changing my life immensely. Seriously, 20/10 would recommend trying this at least once in your lifetime. The iced lavender almond milk latte was also very good, and mixed flavors I have never mixed before. The lavender was very present and vibrant along with the strong coffee until I got to the very end. I was v happy with the small, especially since I do not like to drink too much coffee.
If you find yourself off of 8th avenue on 51st anytime soon, step into Bibble & Sip and experience the greatness for yourself.
